about
recorded in our bedroom at Roo street, some time in spring 2019.
this is a song about a passive anger I guess...like when sometimes you want to scream, but you realise it wouldn't change anything. you are fed up with people around you, showing how they actively "save the world" with their diets (although I'm a vegetarian, too, because I love animals).
but then, acceptance comes instead. an acceptance that you're an ant, totally unimportant, and therefore totally liberated. and that the world is going under, and that there is nothing you can do about it.
so I made a song...did it make me feel better? I don't know. I still sort my garbage, I still avoid buying new clothes...I consider not having a child because of it being an environmental disaster. but, yeah.
I still wake up with a smile.
lyrics
Haven't much to say about this life.
I'm not the one to tell wrong from right.
Haven't much to sing except this line.
You mind yours, and I'll mind mine.
And maybe we'll meet some other time.
Untied, undressed, unveiled.
'Ambitions?' you ask, and I will tell:
'To be at peace, to leave no trace.'
'But don't you want babies?'
'I don't know...Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depending on which side wins, the biological or the intellectual...'
Beyond this life, beyond myself –
what's left behind? What will become?
The truth unveils, the truth undresses.
And it is not nice.
This music Marta created, holds stillness and space just as much as it holds notes and chords, and it is in those spaces between notes that captured my attention so much. This music requires some patience and is for everyone, but I find it gorgeous. Especially when everything finally comes together on the last track, "music" with a choirs wordless vocals taking the chord changes and melody all the way to the climactic ending. Joe Borreson
One of my favourites this year. A heartfelt and honest album sprinkled with snippets of intimate and friendly field recordings. This is something very special abdonoval
